SL- Indonesia trade to reach USD 1b by 2015

Sri Lanka and Indonesia resolved to set a target for bilateral trade to reach US $ 1 billion by the year 2015.

This was decided at the Joint Commission meeting on Bilateral Cooperation between Sri Lanka and Indonesia chaired by External Affairs Minister, Prof. G.L Peiris and visiting Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr. Marty Natalegawa yesterday.

Humanism is the closest we can get to universal good, to a universal idea. Humanism puts the human being at the center, Sri Lankan Ambassador in France Dayan Jayatilleka said.

And placing the human being at the center means to recognize that above all else, beyond national, ethnic, political, civilizational, religious, systemic, and ideological differences, one thing unites us and that is that we are all human, the Ambassador said speaking on New Humanism.

SL, India bilateral trade reached an all-time high in 2011 – Indian envoy

The bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and India last year surged by over 70 percent and reached an estimated all-time high of US$ 5 billion, the High Commissioner of India Ashok Kantha said.

Sri Lanka will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Italy to allow the Italian authorities to recognize the certificates of competency issued for the Sri Lankan seafarers.
