The Acting Police Chief T. Anandaraja said yesterday that there were no further major incidents reported from the plantations as the situation there has been brought under control by the authorities. According to police reports the Nuwara Eliya district, which was in tension during the last few days, is returning to normal with police and troops enforcing tight security. Meanwhile, several roads including the Talawakelle - Nuwara Eliya highway were also cleared yesterday while a lot of plantation workers resumed work after two days of strike and passive resistance. However, the government in a precautionary move re-imposed the curfew from 8.00 pm to 6.00 am today.
