Poppy Week begins

The Poppy Week begins today. This week commemorates the fallen heroes of the two World Wars and the North- East war in Sri Lanka.

The first poppy will be sold to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga at Temple Trees.

The Poppy Week will be from 1^st November to 12^th November 2000.

Commemoration and religious ceremonies will be held on 12^th November at the War Memorial Cenotaph, Vihara Maha Devi Park in Colombo at 0900hrs.

Lanka Ex-servicemen's Association has made arrangements for the sale of individual poppy flowers and poppy rings for vehicles.
