National Integration Programme Unit (NIPU) of the Ethnic Affairs and National Integration Ministry is planning to launch a programme immediately to prevent communal disturbances among communities, Ministry sources revealed. As a preparation to this a team consisting University lectures have been dispatched to the hill country with the aim to investigate the circumstances which led to the Bindunuwewa Detainees Camp incident. The team will meet local politicians, NGO and Trade Union representatives and other social activists to discuss steps that should be taken to prevent communal clashes and disturbances in future.
