Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar who visited London yesterday has highlighted the importance of proscribing the LTTE fund raising activities under the new Anti-Terrorism Act and to place its front organisation under close scrutiny. The Minister has urged UK Home Secretary Jack Straw to take necessary actions to ban fund raising campaigns and other forms of propagandas carried out by the LTTE. Kadirgamar further pointed out that the funds collected abroad was contributing in a real way to the LTTE’s abhorrent practice of using children in combat. The Minister also met Peter Hain, the UK Minister for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. The sources revealed that the discussions held so far have been successful. And the two parties have agreed to cooperate closely in dealing with these issues.
