Sri Lankan Navy Chief Cecil Tissera brought the increasing arms trafficking in the Bay of Bengal to the attention of India, pointing out that they are being committed by insurgent groups operating in tandem in Sri Lanka, northeastern India and Myanmar. According to an Indian news agency report, the message was delivered to top Indian naval and army commanders by visiting Sri Lankan Naval Chief Cecil Tissera. He has made aware the Indian commanders, the increasing flow of weapons across high seas and said it boded ill for stability in the region. The Navy Chief has held formal talks with his Indian counterpart Admiral Sushil Kumar and India's Vice Chief of Army Staff and Vice Air Chief. He had also met Indian defence secretary Yogendra Narain.
