Four LTTE suspects recruiting estate workers arrested

Four LTTE suspects who had received training for more than five years at an LTTE camp in Batticaloa were arrested on Tuesday in connection with a haul of explosives and ten hand grenades hidden in a house at Nalaka Estate in Lunugala.

It was revealed that the weapons had been brought to blow up transformers and Government institutions.

The suspects had been at the bus stand when they were taken into custody by the police.

Police said they had also been recruiting estate workers for the LTTE.

Also on their information Weligama police had been able to take into custody another suspect working in a jewellery shop.

The suspects are being held under detention orders for further investigations.
