Leader of the UNP and the Opposition, Ranil Wickramasinghe yesterday announced that his party intends to make the Parliament which sits from today platform to create a new political culture. UNP Leader assured that they would make a consensual approach with all the parties in the Opposition to offer a constructive solution to the problems faced by the people. Opposition Leader stressed at the media briefing yesterday, “ We have a new role to play and we will do it”. Commenting on the Norwegian peace initiative, “the UNP has always stood for a negotiated settlement that would bring lasting peace to the country” he added.
