State of emergency extended by one more month
 [10 Nov 2000]

Government extended the state of emergency in the entire island by one more month with 113 votes in favour and 15 against in the Parliament yesterday.

Members of the United National party and the single member of Sihala Urumaya refrained from voting.

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and Tamil United Liberation Front voted against the resolution.
