Professor G L Peiris, Minister for Constitutional Affairs and Industrial Development left for Washington D C yesterday to attend an international conference on the World Bank Group’s Strategy in Middle Income Countries to be held this week. Sri Lanka, which stands at the threshold of Middle Income status, is the only country from Asia to be invited for the conference. “
Professor Peiris is due to make representations on behalf of Sri Lanka on
Wednesday November 15 and will highlight some of the current challenges
facing Sri Lanka,” sources revealed.
