EU stresses wholehearted support for Norwegian facilitation

Yesterday the European Union reiterated their support for Norwegian peace efforts to bring peace to Sri Lanka.

The importance of the meeting held with the LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran on 1^st November with the Norwegian Special Envoy Eric Solheim was highly stressed by the European Union yesterday. 

This is the first time that the Norwegian Special Envoy took on the role of “facilitator” after the talks they had with the government in February this year.  

The EU calls upon the Sri Lankan Government and the LTTE to make use of the opportunity offered by the Norwegian facilitators today, of a dialogue to negotiate a solution and put an end to the ethnic conflict.
