UK community centres, schools hired for Tiger fundraising
[14 Nov 2000]

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) hired a community centre in London as well as two schools for a fundraising evening for the terrorist group’s ruthless struggle for a separate homeland in the North-East of Sri Lanka, sources revealed.

On Saturday night, St.George’s Community Centre in Lancaster Road was used by London based Eelam House, the LTTE headquarters in London, for a fundraising evening.

Meanwhile, Nower Hill High School in George V Avenue, Pinner and Copland Community School in Cecil Avenue, Wembley were hired last weekend by the Tigers to raise funds, sources said.

While the American Embassy in London confirmed that the LTTE is on the US State Department’s listings of foreign terrorist organisations, the United Nations has condemned the terrorists for the use of child soldiers.

Following these revelations both the community centre and the two schools have disassociated themselves from the events and begun investigations.

These so called “ cultural evenings” show screenings glorifying terrorist violence, suicide bombers and dead bodies, sources said.

Tickets are sold at £10 per person and investigations reveal that at least £20,000 was raised. The money raised at fundraising events such as these is in aid of the Tiger group to fight the 20 year old war against the government in the North East of Sri Lanka. The LTTE have killed thousands of innocent civilians regardless of race and creed, proving that their struggle is merciless, ruthless and most of all meaningless.
