LTTE continues to abuse Canadian public schools
[15 Nov 2000]

Several Sri Lankan Expatriate's Organisations in Canada have complained of several fund raising activities planned by the LTTE front organisations on 26th November, called the "Tiger Martyr's Day".

The Canadian Association for United Sri Lanka and several other organisations has urged the respective authorities to stop these events from taking place.  The pro-LTTE organisations have arranged the main event at the John Oliver School in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The major Newspapers in Canada have highlighted the fact of abusing public schools for their so-called "multicultural", which are merely the propaganda activities for LTTE.

"The LTTE being the deadliest terrorist organisation in the world, according to the US State Department, have also penetrated our Public School System using the mask of multiculturalism," the Canadian Association for United Sri Lanka wrote in a letter to the Vancouver School Board.

The TV Ontario's programme, on October 2000 "Diplomatic Immunity" which clearly showed how the LTTE fund raising activities take place in Canada and how they have violated the Canadian generosity.

The National Post article has stated," Canadian public schools have been used by supporters of the Tamil Tigers, one of the world's most ruthless terrorists organisations, for fundraising drives and militaristic after school rallies featuring men in camouflage uniform carrying mock assault rifles.  Donations are collected and Tamil Tiger's paraphernalia and propaganda are sold at the monthly events held at Toronto area."

The money collected at these events is in turn sent to Sri Lanka to finance the terrorists.  Law Enforcement Officials in Canada stated, "We know that lot of them are gang members who are involved in drug trade, extortion and many other illegal operations."

Canadian Association for United Sri Lanka said: "We do not need our children to be exposed to terrorist mentality and tactics in Canadian Schools.  It is our duty to protect them from such harm.  Therefore as concerned Canadian parents we like to appeal to all School Boards and public organisations across Canada to join hands against terrorism.  It is timely that BC School Board in particular Vancouver take decisive action to protect our children from this obvious danger of terrorist involvement.  "
