State to spend Rs.16m to repair damages in Thalawakele, Ginigathhena

Due to disturbances in Thalawakele and Ginigathhena towns following the Bindunuwewa massacre, the state will spend Rs.16 million to repair damages, sources said.

According to sources, the sum was approved for refurbishing the damaged houses and shops in the upcountry. This money is channelled through the Samurdhi, Rural and Upcountry Development and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry and the Estate Infrastructure Development Ministry.

Rs.8 million of this sum provided by the Estate Infrastructure development Ministry will be used to rebuild the Ginigathhena and Thalawakele towns.
