Police arrested the private secretary to the recently assassinated TULF MP for Batticaloa, after he left hospital after sustaining gun shot injuries to his leg, sources said. The Sellathambi Loganathan (45) was also shot at when he travelled on the pillion of the motorbike ridden by TULF MP Ashley Nimalanayagam Soundranayagam. According to SSP Batticaloa Police Division Upali Hewage, Loganathan was arrested in connection with the killing of the TULF MP to ascertain where they had gone to on that day. Police were informed that both the deceased MP and his secretary had travelled to Karadiyanaru, an uncleared area of Batticaloa District under the control of the LTTE.
