Security personnel handed over safe containing gold sovereigns to Hindu priests

An iron safe containing 103 gold sovereigns worth over Rupees one lakh was handed over to Madduvil Hindu priests by Security personnel.

Information Department sources, in Jaffna peninsula having observed an iron safe at Pandivalachchi Amman Kovil in Madduvil North area which came under security forces control in Kinihira II, the Security forces personnel informed priests of the Kovil to remove the valuables of the Kovil according to their wish.

Last Wednesday, the priests of the Kovil, Manappa Sivaguru Maheswaran Kurukkal, Logeswaran Sharma and Kerushara Sharma with the assistance of the Security forces opened the safe, which was inside the Kovil and took into their custody Rs. 129,180 and 103 gold sovereigns that were kept inside the safe.

The priests were very pleased at the kind gesture of the Security forces personnel, especially for looking after the belongings of the Hindu Kovil.
