The world crude oil prices have increased by 150% affecting the local prices of diesel, kerosene and fuel prices. World fuel, which was US$ 10.65 per barrel in January 1999, rose to US$ 25.20 by December 1999. The world crude oil price, which was US$ 27.30 per barrel in January 1999, has increased to US$ 32.50 by October 2000, which is an increase of 300% between the two periods. According to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), Lanka Auto Diesel will now retail at Rs. 21.50 per litre. A litre of Super diesel will cost Rs.26.80. Kerosene will be priced at Rs. 17.40 a litre, while industrial kerosene will cost Rs. 19.70 a litre.
