Three of the four accused Hokandara killers who were found guilty of murdering a family of six at Amaragoda Road in February last year were sentenced to death after being convicted by the Trial at Bar at Hulftsdorp yesterday. In addition the three Ukkuwa, Nandana and Mahinda were also found guilty for robbery and gang rape and were given ten and twenty years rigorous imprisonment. The fourth accused was sentenced to twenty years rigorous imprisonment convicted only of the charge of committing gang rape. The Trial-at-Bar comprised High Court Judges, Raja Fernando (President), Nimal Gamini Amaratunga and Gamini Abayaratne.
