Amid the possibility of peace initiatives US Assistant Secretary of State Karl Inderfurth is expected in Colombo on Monday. Inderfurth is expected to meet Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar, Constitutional Affairs Minister G L Peiris and Opposition Leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe. The visit will be part of a South Asian Tour by Inderfurth. Meanwhile, Britain’s Deputy Foreign Secretary Peter Hain was due in Colombo early today for two days of talks with the government and other party leaders. “ Hain said he was keen to hear the views of all communities during talks which are expected to cover the ethnic conflict among other matters,” local newspapers said. Hain held the first round of talks with Minister G L Peiris, Ranil Wickremasinghe and Minister Kadirgamar today.
