A young man was killed and four persons received injuries when two Tigers of the LTTE, fired at two policemen when they were in a Chinese Restaurant in Kasturiyar Road in Jaffna in the north of Sri Lanka, on Monday. The dead youth is Arulpirathasan Muralitharan (25) of Point Pedro. The other two who received injuries are J Jegamogan (25) and K Selvarajah who were admitted to the Jaffna Hospital. The LTTE who claim to be fighting for the rights of the Tamil people in the country, are the very people who disrupt the peace and tranquillity, terrorising the lives of innocent civilians who fall victim to their ruthless deeds. The LTTE terrorists executed 14 civilians on January 24. The civilians were executed by the LTTE as they were suspected to have given secret information to the army about the whereabouts of terrorist movements. Anther Tamil lawmaker was gunned down on May 15 night by Tamil Tiger terrorists. Police said an LTTE terrorist shot dead Santhanam Kandeepan, a member of the Jaffna municipal council, in the peninsula's Arasadi area, while he was standing outside his house. LTTE terrorists kill six civilians in random shelling of densely populated areas on the same day around Jaffna due to the frustration of not being able to dislodge the government troops defending Jaffna. In Trincomalee on 6 June this year, around 9 pm, Marimuthu Manikkarasa age 33, was forcibly taken out of his residence at Killiweddi, Mutur and killed by the LTTE for refusing to join the organisation. A prominent TELO member of Arayampathi, Batticaloa, 303 km from Colombo, was shot dead by LTTE terrorists on June 8, this year, near the Education Department office. Nimalan Saundranayagam, newly elected Tamil United Liberation Front (TULF) MP for Batticaloa District was shot dead on November 6, by unidentified gunmen at Kiran in the Batticaloa District, while his security officer is seriously injured, sources revealed. The LTTE continue to brutally kill civilians most often their own people, making their struggle for a separate homeland in the country a meaningless fight devoid of any goal.
