CBK on an official visit to Europe

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge left for Europe yesterday to participate in state level discussions with some European leaders.

Meanwhile Premier Ratnasiri Wickramanayake was sworn in as the acting minister of Defence, Finance and Planning in the absence of the President before the Speaker the Speaker Anura Bandaranaike.

Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe also left for India to participate in the 48^th anniversary of the Sanchi Temple.
