Two suspects who were alleged to have prepared forged National Identity Cards for the LTTE suspects killed in the attack at Rajagiiriya on March 10 early this year, were remanded till December 18, 2000 on an application by the CID. The LTTE suicide group cold bloodedly assassinated innocent civilians making them victims of their anger for being discovered amidst a well-planned ambush for a VIP target at Rajagiriya Borella junction killing 29 and injuring 74. A large number of vehicles were also damaged in the blast. The Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge G.D. Kulatilake conducting the Magisterial Inquiry into the LTTE attack remanded the two suspects. The suspects T. Muruganathan and M. Kandaswamy are from the North and had been residing at Dehiwala and Sea Street. They had allegedly assisted the group of LTTE suicide bombers and were arrested by the special police team attached to the CDB. The Judge directed the CDB to forward a comprehensive report on their ongoing investigations on the next date, December 18, 2000.
