Inderfurth meets Kadirgamar

Karl M. Inderfurth, Assistant secretary of State for South Asia, called on Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar yesterday morning. 

At this brief meeting they reviewed the bilateral relationship between United States and Sri Lanka satisfaction at the positive development of the relationship during President Clinton's administration, sources reported.

Later the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka handed Sri Lanka's Instrument of ratification of the United States -Sri Lanka Extradition Treaty.

Minister Kadirgamar expressing his view said, "the treaty sends a clear signal to all perpetrators that they shall not enjoy safe haven in our territories."

Further the US State Department has designated the LTTE as a foreign terrorist organisation, sources stated.
