Does Prabhakaran mean what he says???
[30 Nov 2000]

The leader of the LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran, in his Annual Heroes Day speech declared that he is ready for peace talks. Ironically few days later on 26 November several armed LTTE tigers had forcefully entered the Vavuniya College of National Education premises and had intimidated the innocent students.

The group of terrorists had tried to hoist the Elam flag at the college premises. This is an incident, which clearly indicates that they still believe in a separate Tamil homeland in north and east parts of Sri Lanka, sources revealed.

Meanwhile Sinhala students of the college had started vacating for fear of Tiger attacks since yesterday morning.

In his speech Prabhakaran emphasises the need to create a 'peaceful', 'cordial environment' and further proposes a de-escalation of war. But the celebrations, which were organised to celebrate his birthday, which fell on 26 November, did not exhibit any sign of his willingness to negotiate with the government.
