Vote on Account passed

The government won over the attempt made by the UNP to defeat the passing of Vote on Account. The vote was won by 14 votes, after the stormy debate yesterday.

The victory margin clearly showed the winning of all the attempts made by UNP. This was the first defeat of UNP after the 11th Parliament was elected. Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake had demanded all PA constituent members to be present in the parliament yesterday ass the matter based on the vote was important. Therefore the punctuality in the house was visible yesterday.

Despite the issues raised by the UNP on economic downfalls Minister Ronnie De Mel convinced that the government would succeed in obtaining its anticipated aid quantum at the Paris forum.
