India’s AIADMK General Secretary, Jayalalitha has accused Union Home Minister L K Advani of breach of privilege in the Rajya Sabha by misleading the House on the purpose of the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) agents visiting Sri Lanka, sources said. In a statement on Friday, Jayalalitha recalled that Advani had informed the Rajya Sabha recently that the MDMA, probing the larger conspiracy in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, was in Sri Lanka from November 13 to 23 to meet the Sri Lankan Attorney General and Solicitor Generala and press for the extradition of the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. However, Attorney General Kamalasabayson has reportedly made it clear that the three-member MDMA team did not demand Prabhakaran’s extradition either orally or in writing, Jayalalitha said. “ If the Sri Lankan Attorney- General is to be believed, them what was the purpose of the MDMA team’s Sri Lankan visit? And why did Mr.Advani mislead Parliament? Wouldn’t this amount to breach of Parliamentary privilege? Will the Prime Minister clarify?” she asked.
