“When Tigers came and started shooting, we were hiding inside the house. They dragged my mother from the hideout in the house and shot her. They repeatedly shot at father also.”

This is how Sriyani Fernando (18), an eye witness and daughter of the deceased couple described to a local news paper.

The heinous crime of killing her parents in the savage human slaughter committed by the LTTE terrorists at Kurulubedda in Welikanda of the Polonnaruwa district at dawn day before yesterday(07).

“When the terrorists came and started shooting in front of our house, my father crept me under a loft and put mats and pillows and a stack of reeds over it. asking me not to make a noise.

Mother too was asked to hide in a corner in the house, and I saw the place where she was hiding. My younger brother also crept under a bed. Terrorists entered and ransacked the house, dragged out the mother and shot her. They did not look at the places that my brother and I were hiding.

After shooting, they threw grenades at my parents who were fallen. There after they walked off carrying the TV set and other items in the house. They had removed the bowls and the little money we had at house also.

when I realised that they had gone away, I went to the Army camp and informed about the incident.”

Thus every cent colleted by the LTTE is being utilised for these kind of barbaric activities. Those who are funding terror should keep this in their minds.
