Sir Arthur C Clarke celebrates his 83rd birthday

One of the most eminent scientists of the world, Sir Arthur C Clerke celebrates his 83rd birthday today.

He was born on December 16, 1917 in England and ended his secondary education obtaining a class one degree in Science form the King’s Educational Institution in London in 1948.

He converted the globe into a global village and later to a global family form his ever popular magazine the “Wireless World” published in 1945.

In 1954 he visited Sri Lanka and later obtained permanent resident in the island. The cash donation he received along with the Marconi Award in 1982 used by him to build the “Arthur C Clerke Institute for Modern Technology in Moratuwa” later.

In recognition of his service to the field of Science and Technology, the Government of Sri Lanka issued two stamps last year.

We wish him long life.
