The Security Forces on Monday recovered 603 'Johnny' mines laid by the LTTE terrorists in Nunavil, Jaffna before they were forced to withdraw from the area by troops of operation Kinihira 5. The clearing operation is being conducted by the troops to prevent the LTTE terrorists' desperate attempt to hinder the Security Forces offensives. Intelligence sources have also revealed that the Tigers are facing an acute shortage of manpower. The LTTE also laid number of land mines in the Mannar, Vavuniya, Trincomalee and Batticaloa targeting civilian passenger buses and military vehicles during the past month. Civilians including children have become victims of these land mines laid by the LTTE.
