Sri Lanka Army repulses terrorist attacks

The Special Task Force (STF) yesterday repulsed an LTTE terrorist pre-dawn attack on the Bakkiella Police Post in Ampara killing seven LTTE cadres and wounding a large number, the military sources reported.

As their desperate attempt to capture the Police Post failed , terrorists fired mortars at the Bakkiella village killing a home guard who was not on duty in the village and damage a number of houses, sources revealed.

Around 150 to 200 LTTE cadres including around 50  women cadres also joined the attack around 2 am yesterday and the reinforcements from Badulla junction and Ampara camps were sent to repulse the attack, the sources revealed.

The LTTE personnel recovered seven bodies of the LTTE along with seven T 56 weapons, a 40mm grenade pistol, three communication sets, three RPG cells and a large number of equipment left behind by the fleeing terrorists.
