President's New Year Message

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga urged all citizens to join hands to accomplish the noble task of ushering in peace.

She said that everyone must join hands in order to make our nation a prosperous one, taking into consideration the victories that we have already achieved In her New Year message president said, " I am hereby sending my warmest wishes to all Sri Lankans at a time we enter 2001 with the fullest anticipation of our nation's future course. 

"It is not necessary to reiterate that we are treading on an arduous route circumventing all perils and inhibitions to create an opportunity for us to live in amity within a framework of peace, brotherhood and cohabitation. 

"I also fervently wish that you will all have the requisite strength to usher in a nation of peace and prosperity, devoid of corruption, inefficiency, hatred, violence and the scourge of terrorism."
