Tea production up by eight percent in 2000 [03 Jan 2001]

Tea production has gone up by eight percent from January to November in the year 2000 over the same period of the previous year, Tea Board said yesterday.

Black tea production during these 11 months amounted to 278,502,954 kg as against 258,445,641 kg produced in 1999, it said.

The total production of black tea during November 2000 was 28,718,099 kg as against 24,200,890 kg in November 1999. This is an increase of 19 percent.
