Arrested on 25 August this year, an LTTE detainee named Shanmuganathan Nithyadasan from Trincomalee has found killed at the Kalutara prison. His body was found in his cell on Wednesday morning when the guards went to unlock the cells for the morning parade. Several fatal injuries suspected to have been caused by a sharp weapon were found on the body. Kalutara North Police is conducting further investigations. This is suspected to be an another LTTE attempt to destroy the good image of the government by saying the government is involving in human right violations. But the government is taking all the necessary steps to bring the culprits to books. The President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge has directed the Police to provide a full report regarding the incident.
