The Norwegian special envoy, Eric Solheim is expected to arrive in Colombo today, media sources said.
The special envoy, Eric Solheim is expected to meet the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge and the LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. He is expected to table new proposals to the Sri Lankan Government, which will enable to narrow the differences over starting a new round of peace talks with the LTTE.
Mr. Solheim is expected to meet the Foreign Minister along with the President and also to travel the guerrilla held Wanni region to hold second meeting with Prabhakaran.
The special envoy was in New Delhi last week to discuss with the Indian leaders regarding giving a new life to the peace process. He later visited London to meet the LTTE spokesman Anton Balasingham.
The first visit made by the Norwegian special envoy with the LTTE leader lightened up the peace process when Velupillai Prabhakaran agreed to hold unconditional talks with the Sri Lankan Government. Subsequently, LTTE leader demanded the Sri Lankan government to hold a ceasefire, which was later rejected.
