The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam who are fighting a seventeen year old guerrilla war against the Sri Lankan government is reportedly in hardship with continuous desertions leading to low morale and rampant indiscipline among its cadres, sources reported. In the face of mounting military executions carried out by the Government Forces the only option available for the LTTE is to take refuge under a temporary 'cease-fire' which will undoubtedly 'cease' after they regain military strength. According to the information received from the monitored transmissions of the rebel group's clandestine radio, the LTTE has received yet another severe blow as senior leaders like Marshall and Kandappan have quit the group with all their belongings. Further the area leader reportedly told Prabhakaran, the leader of LTTE, that with eroding discipline and low morale in the group, it was extremely difficult to halt continuous desertions, the sources revealed. Due to escalation of infighting and low morale within the LTTE cadres have now also started to openly criticise conscription of children as soldiers, a government spokesman said. Meanwhile disturbed over the rampant indicipline, Prabhakaran has pulled up his local leaders, sources revealed. The government troops within the past few months managed to regain control of 75 per cent of the Jaffna peninsula revealed the defence ministry officials. However the ordinary citizens residing in these wartorn areas are resisting the recruitment efforts and are highly disgusted with the LTTE activities.
