The National Transport Commission warned the bus operators to stick to the revised bus fares from January 7th. The Transport Minister Dinesh Gunawardene directed the National Transport Commission to take stern action against the bus operators charging excess fares from commuters. Also the Minster requested the commuters to stick to revised fares without paying more to bus operators. Minister was received with many complaints from commuters about arbitrary fares charged by private bus operators and intercity air conditioned bus operators. The National Transport Commission stated, certain bus routes will not be effected with the revised fare system and it has directed the bus operators to exhibit the bus fares in the buses for the convenience of the commuters.
