Over 700 persons imprisoned in LTTE prison camp
[11 Jan 2001]

A LTTE prison camp in Mullaitivu is holding around 700 people as prisoners, sources claimed.

In October last year around 16 Tamil fishermen who were abducted and taken prisoner to a hostage camp in Mullaitivu by the LTTE were released on January 8, this year.

The fishermen who spent three whole months in a LTTE prison camp in Mullaitivu claimed that at least 700 people were held prisoner there.

The LTTE are allegedly using these prisoners to build bunkers and camps, in addition to cooking and sewing for the terrorists. These prisoners who are used as slaves are given only two meals a day by the Tigers.

These 16 fishermen who were imprisoned in four separate prisons were threatened by the Tigers about giving out any information about the LTTE prison camps, prior to setting them free.
