Solheim in SL for four-day visit

Norwegian special envoy arrived in the country yesterday for a four-day visit during which he will meet Sri Lankan Government representatives in Colombo, sources confirmed.

The five-member delegation arrived to facilitate peace talks with the Government and the LTTE, Norwegian Embassy sources said.

“ Mr.Solheim is here to enter into dialogue on the side of the government on this visit,” a Norwegian Embassy spokesman said.

Solheim is to meet with President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga today and later with other government representatives including Opposition Leader, Ranil Wickremasinghe.

Several important decisions including a final time-frame for Government-LTTE talks are expected to be taken during the envoy's stay here.
