The third month alms-giving ceremony of the late Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike was held at Horogolla yesterday. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge, Speaker Anura Bandaranaike, Sunetra Bandaranaike and number of Cabinet Ministers were presented at this ceremony attended by a large gathering. “She followed the footsteps of her late husband who faced an untimely death, put the country on the world map. t is the duty of their children to join hands serve the nation as respect to their parents who worked for the benefit of downtrodden of this country,” said Rev. Walmaruwagoda Wimalabuddhi of Siam Chapter. Madithiyawala Wijithasena Thera said that the late Prime Minister Sirimavo was the only woman leader who contributed a lot for the benefit of social development of this country.
