Peoples Alliance General Secretary Minister D. M. Jayaratne is prepared to present a proposal to suspend all allowances to Members of Parliament for six months to the Speaker Anura Bandaranaike. This was an outcome of the discussions of the executive committee of the party headed by the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge held on last Wednesday. The prime aim of the proposal is to set an example by the members of the parliament to curtail expenditure, taking into account the present economic situation prevails in the country. Final decision will be arrived after consulting others.
