Prabhakaran wanted by Interpol

The International Criminal Police  Organisation (Interpol) has issued a Red Alert Most Wanted notice for the capture of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and some of his close accomplices, sources said.

Among the other LTTE leaders wanted by Interpol are Prabhakaran's confidantes Charles, Sellaiah Navaratnam, intelligence chief Pottu Amman, Rajadorai Sathukulasingham, Kandiah Sri Ganesh, Ramaiah Papathy and Karuppiah Kamalanathan.

Interpol describes Prabhakaran as "a terrorist who is very alert, of stout build, known to use disguise and capable of handling sophisticated weaponry and explosives". It has posted the notice on its Website and sent copies of the Most Wanted poster to police forces in the 178 member states.

“ Prabhakaran is wanted by Interpol's anti-terrorism branch for murder, terrorism and terrorism conspiracy. The Anti Terrorism Branch is currently engaged in combating Terrorism, Firearms and Explosives, Attacks and Threats against Civil Aviation, Maritime Piracy and Weapons of Mass destruction,” sources said. 

His arrest warrant was issued simultaneously from Colombo and Chennai a couple of years ago.
