Budget to be presented in March 2001

The Deputy Finance Minister Professor G L Pieris stated that the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunge was making the budget, which is to be presented in the parliament in March 2001.

The Deputy Finance Minister further stated on the country's economy, that Central Bank allowing market forces to determine the rupee status would have a good impact on the three strong sectors in the country.  The President' main aim is to improve the three main export products such as the textile and the plantation industries and foreign employment, Minister added.
