Ferry Service resumes from Trinco
[30 Jan 2001]

The passenger vessel, which was operating from Trinco to North, called “City of Trinco” resumed service after lapse of several months.   The ferry, which carries the International Committee of the Red Cross flag, carried 404 passengers from Trincomalee to Kankasanturai, yesterday.

The ferry service will operate two voyages per week.  The ICRC has assured the security from the Security Forces and the LTTE for safe travel of the vessel.  The sources confirm that the service was suspended during the recent monsoon period due to LTTE intransigence.
