SL tea exports show 66 million USD increase in 2000

An increase of 66 million US Dollars was shown in Sri Lankan tea exports in the year 2000, Tea Board sources said.

Compared with 1999, Sri Lanka’s tea production reached a record 305.8 million kilos last year, while a crop of 284 million kilos was recorded the previous year.

From January to December 2000 Black Tea Production amounted to 305,843,761 kg as against 283,760,783 kg produced in 1999 showing an 8 percent increase.
