Susanthika Jayasinghe is the first ever athlete in the Sri Lankan history to enter the women's 100m semis as well as winning an Olympic medal.

Sprinter, Susanthika Jayasinghe who won a bronze medal at the Sydney Olympics 2000 finished second at the IAAF International Athletic Meeting in Stuttgart on Sunday in women's 60m dash.

She clocked 7.17 seconds falling behind Ukraine's Angela Kravchenko (7.09). The third place went to Bulgarian Petya Pendareva (7.18). 

Susanthika made this event her very first meet after the Olympic games in Sydney.

Reports revealed that, she be based in Los Angeles in the future for the rest of the year, training to take part in a series of similar IAAF Grand Prix meetings in the US, Europe and Asia.
