The government will be launching a massive district level economic development programme to give employment opportunities for youth in both urban and rural areas in the country. According to the Ministry of Planning the project is designed using material and human resources in the country with the assistance of the government as well as the private sector. Initial planning for the project is being carried out, ministry sources said. The island-wide economic development programme is expected to maximize the utility of material and human resources in the rural areas, creating new employment opportunities to the youth.
