A conference has been summoned this week at the Police Headquarters to discuss immediate measures to combat the increasing wave of crime in the country. Inspector general of Police Lucky Kodituwakku has convened all DIG’s of the Ranges for this conference. “ We have drawn up two plans, one is the operational action plan and the other is Administrative Action Plan on the directive of President Chandrika Kumaratunga “ said IGP Kodituwakku yesterday. The Operational Action Plan aimed at combating crime will be implemented in each Police station area through the Officer in charge of the Police Station. The Administrative Action Plan will monitor the effective implementation of the Operational Action Plan through Crime Monitoring Committees. The DIG appealed to the public to assist the Police in order to bring the culprits to book. He further insisted the fact that all Police personnel should strive to curtail crime and get at those responsible for such acts.
