A suspected LTTE Major who had allegedly led more than ten attacks on several army camps in recent months was arrested on Sunday by a special police team at Pesalai. He was arrested along with a grenade, a cyanide capsule and a 9mm pistol. According to investigations, the suspect has led massive attacks on the Kankasanthurai and Muttur camps. Police said that the suspect was arrested after interrogating another LTTE suspect who was arrested recently. According to police investigations, the hard core LTTE leader had come to Pesalai with 15 other LTTE cadres to carry out a major attack on an army camp or a key police post. Meanwhile, a combined search operation by the Army, Police and Air Force has been launched in the area to track down more LTTE cadres.
