Military Intelligence reports that, young cadres of the LTTE in the East have started to abandon the terrorist organization and are fleeing to the jungles. Already a young female LTTE cadre called "Suganthini" had surrendered herself to the Vettipalama Special Task Force (STF) camp. She had escaped from the LTTE, the STF in Karaithivu in the east stated, adding that they have also received information that around six young male terrorists under command to LTTE leader "Sachchi Master", have disappeared along with their weapons. The security forces have now started to address the escaped youth via public address systems to come and surrender themselves to nearby military camps. According to military sources, due to the escalating attacks by the Army and the Special Task Forces, government servants, school children, labourers and farmers were being forcefully sent by the LTTE to the battlefields without proper military training. It is reported that this is one of the major factors for their increasing number of casualties. Even children attending private tuition classes in the north and east now have to obtain a card signed by the LTTE leader of the area stating that they have undergone a military training.
