NHDA to build houses with local technology
[13 Feb 2001]

The National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) is focussing on building houses utilising local technology and changing the current rural housing policy under a new plan.

The Government has allocated Rs.833 million for the development of rural housing in the year 2001. The North East Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Authority have allocated Rs.524 million for the resettlement and the building of temporary shelters for those who are affected by the North Eats conflict.

Earlier, the NHDA handled both the rural and urban housing but with the splitting of the ministry urban housing is now handled by the Urban Development Authority (UDA).
